Photography is a very important component to my work. I carry a camera with me almost everywhere. I love taking pictures. I love making things with photos and I love looking at photos.
There is something about walking around with a camera that slows a person down a bit. You really start to see the world as compositions waiting to be captured. You notice things like shape, contrast and color. I find that photography is a great antidote for a hectic life.
There is also an element of capturing the essence of a moment with photography. Sometimes I don't realize what I caught until I look at the photo later. The unexpectedness is intriging to me.
As a graphic designer, I enjoy the ability to alter my photography as well. Photography for me is both a means and an ends. |
